Sexual abuse by members of the clergy and religious orders is the one subject which most individuals like to sweep under the carpet because, either:
+ One feels uncomfortable about it; or
+ One was a victim and cannot face reliving the past; or
+ One simply does not know what to do about it.
Ignoring this social cancer has caused the prolongation of untold suffering and, worse of all, drives the faithful away from God. In addition, it also drives the Catholic faithful away from the most needed supernatural assistance provided by the Holy Sacraments and dispensed through the Roman and Orthodox Churches.
Here is where we disagree with those who have ceased to think, and only act if and when told by said Church Authority - even if they know that a grievous sin is being committed and is being covered by a mantle of false piety.
We disagree not in Definition, but in its Practice.
God indeed intended those matters to be handled by those to whom He had entrusted within the Church. Unfortunately, in Practice it has not worked that way since too many wolves were entrusted with the safekeeping of the sheep.
But do not take our word for it - after all, who are we when judged by the standards of this status crazed world?

The priests, ministers of my Son, the priests, by their wicked lives, by their irreverence and their impiety in the celebration of the holy mysteries, by their love of money, their love of honors and pleasures, the priests have become cesspools of impurity... The sins of those dedicated to God cry out towards Heaven and call for vengeance,... ...there is no one left worthy of offering a stainless sacrifice to the Eternal God for the sake of the world. - La Salette 1846

Divine Providence saw to it that we would come across Barry M. Coldrey's work Religious Life Without Integrity - The Sexual Crisis in the Catholic Church.
We found Dr. Coldrey's work a very apt vehicle to call to the attention of the faithful the seriousness of the problem; to call them to vigilant action to help both the abused as well as the abuser.
"Help the abuser?" Yes! The abuser, as our Lord Jesus Christ taught us to do. When we prevent one of our brothers and sisters from falling into grave sin, it is when we are serving our Lord Jesus Christ and His Most Holy Mother the most.
