Boniface V : 619-625 A.D.

69. Born in Naples. Elected December 23, 619 - died October 25, 625.

The Period of his pontificate began 11 months later and was embittered by the wars for the Crown of Italy.

He established the immunity of asylum for those who were prosecuted and looked for shelter in churches.

During his pontificate, Mohammed started his preachership.

He is buried in the Vatican Grottoes. His pontificate lasted 5 years and 10 months.


Honorius I : 625-638 A.D.

70. Born in Capua. Elected October 27, 625 - died October 12, 638.

He sent missionaries almost all over the world.

He introduced the feast of the Glorification of the Holy Cross which is celebrated on September 14.

He solved the Eastern church question and the Aquileia Schism for the three chapters of the 4th Chalcedon council, which condemned Eutiche's heresy and was more than once confirmed and canceled.

He is buried in the Vatican Grottoes. His pontificate lasted almost 13 years.


Severinus : 640 A.D.

71. Born in Rome. Elected May 28, 640 - died August 2, 640 .

He was in serious disagreement with the Byzantine Emperor, Heraclius, since he condemned Monothelitism.

In order to punish him, the Emperor ordered to sack St. John's Church and the Lateran Palace.

He died of grief.

He is buried in the Vatican Grottoes. His pontificate lasted only 2 months and 5 days.


John IV : 640-642 A.D.

72. Born in Dalmatia. Elected December 24, 640 - died October 12, 642.

He tried to show the path of truth to the dissenters of Egypt.

He transferred the mortal remains of the martyrs Venantius, Anastasius and Maurus to the Lateran.

He personally ordained 28 priest and 18 bishops in order to be sure of their faith.

He called back the Bishops from Scotland to celebrate Easter.

He is buried in the Vatican Grottoes. His pontificate lasted 1 year, 9 months and 18 days.
