This is a note of appreciation for suggestions, suggestions, suggestions, and more suggestions
(kind and patient--and I'm sure with prayers) that I might benefit from addressing my codependency
(1) issues with a program like Al-Anon and to give you a brief update.
I'd been waiting for some landmark happening to do so, but now see that it does not work that way, but is more of a daily awakening and addressing things as they come, rather than something with a finish line.

It has been about 6 months now that I have been attending as faithfully as possible and trying to
"work the program." I recognize myself in so many of the disordered behaviors discussed/read about
and also those from the speakers, some of whom are recovering alcoholics/AA members.
It has caused me some pain and sadness to face what I learn. It has also really taken me by surprise--since this is what's been the "normal" all of my life. I must have been in deep, dark, double denial, and even denial of denial. (2) (3) But, sure enough, even so long as 20 years ago, someone who was trying to help me had passed along reading material about this very subject. My point is, I see how God had been offering the help (4) for such a long time--I was just to blind to see that or recognize His action.
It has caused me some pain and sadness to face what I learn. It has also really taken me by surprise--since this is what's been the "normal" all of my life. I must have been in deep, dark, double denial, and even denial of denial. I am now making notes in a journal to put together my personal inventory--good and bad--which puts
me, by the books, at Step 4 of the 12 Step Program, but have to keep backtracking upon seeing
certain ways that I've not turned over to God.
He is very good to walk with me (5) through this, though, and to hold my hand and to help me uncover my eyes when I am afraid to look at myself. And in the meanwhile and as lovely consolation, many other of His Truths that you write about seem that much clearer--even the beloved Divine Instructions (6) seem sweeter and more personal and applicable!

I am trying not to put any timetables on the process and just keep moving forward--but hope, with
His help, to make the amends that matter the most. His Will be done, and That will be the correct
results for me. For now, life seems to be going more smoothly, with less distress and that handled
with less drama.
Although Al-Anon tells me to concentrate on my own self, there are times when I think most in the
"developed" world could use this program...at least the step where we "make a decision to turn our
wills and lives over to the care of God," (7) but I guess that's where the coming times
(8) will bring us. God knew I needed a head start...and I'm very grateful for His special
care.
Thank you, too, for helping me to get the message and for your concern. I'll continue to pray for
you and the work of The M+G+R Foundation and, especially, that all those you should reach will be
soon.

We KNOW that you are making progress because you found one of the main keys of life: Life is more of a daily awakening and addressing things as they come, rather than something with a finish line.
Being that life truly has only one purpose - serve God by fulfilling the Will for which He placed us here -once we focus on the journey, the right "finish line" will just show up when the time is right.
A world parallel to that concept.... When miguel studied "the four R's" all the way through the University years - his objective was to learn as much as I could since all interested him. Logically, the resulting grades landed for him full scholarships for graduate school in the likes of Princeton and U of C at Berkeley.
That is why people, who are so concerned about making sure that they will enjoy the joys of Heaven, while disregarding His needs for us to attend in this world, will never make it.
Notice that most of the prayers at Mass are always geared for that: Making sure that they will enjoy the joys of Heaven and not asking to be transform into the creature that would be of most service to Him.
We then must presume that God is to call "The Kelly Girls" form Kelly Services to get done here what we were supposed to do in the first place!

Jesus kept going up to Golgotha enduring the pain of rejection of most - a pain which was greater than the physical pain - because He knew that - without regard to the physical appearances - His effort and suffering were not in vain. Therefore - let us never forget that example and pick up our cross [the fulfillment of His plan for each one of us] and follow Him.

This extraordinary request matches the extraordinary circumstances: The visit of Benedict XVI to the US and the seemingly never ending stream of apologies and emotional words expressing great contrition for the sexual abuse within the US Catholic Church.
The Message
This effusive public display of contrition - as you must already know - was a carefully staged, and quite hollow, event. All of those words had been carefully written in Rome long before his arrival in the US. The script, so to speak, for a well planned and choreographed Mea Culpa
Yesterday's New York Times (1) brought to mind the obscenity of such behavior. In the headline we read that: Vatican Hints at Changes in Church Laws on Abuse
Two brief quotes from the article are:

Therefore, Ratzinger - Benedict XVI - was well aware of what was going on in the US Catholic Church and did nothing about it.
What we are seeing here is an outrageous mockery of the innocent Faithful of the US who are not aware of the truth behind the scenes - and another grave offense to God.
We ask you: Who, if not a satan-guided soul, would participate in such a sick charade?
Please get this information out as far as wide as you can. If people do not want to believe that this man is the AntiChrist - fine; at least they should be fully aware of how he is mocking the Faithful.
May God Bless your every effort in assisting those members of the Elect whose eyes and ears are still closed, and who, because of that, will suffer greatly unless they are opened with black and white irrefutable facts.
We can do so much - but the rest must be done by those who have already Seen and Heard.

Last Friday I watched Zeitgeist movie. Well - even with background knowledge of many facts covered in this movie, the Big Picture shown was so real and shocking.
Movie consists of 3 parts: Religion, 911 Attack and Economy.
In first part authors try to prove that all world religions are man made and conclude it stating that Jesus Christ was imaginary figure, not a real person. This part is hardly scientific because even without deep knowledge of other non monotheistic world religions "concentration" around December 25 (1) is very questionable and for example only few hundred years ago it was November 7 (and actually Eastern Church still uses old calendar).
I think without any problems you can find many holes in this theory but for "weak" on Faith this part can be damaging, its a-la Da Vinci Code (2) so I can't recommend it easily to everybody.
In the second part authors try to prove that 911 was planned and executed by government, with a lot of facts and proofs.
In the third part authors try to show that banks and "elite" were behind every war in 20th century - WW I, WW II, Vietnam, etc.
Even if some of the facts cannot be proved or they are wrong I think this movie can add more new information to "Illuminati", "NWO" and "conspiracy" folders.
But again, first part in my opinion is a bit dangerous for unprepared minds.
Another potential problem that I see with this movie is that you can download it for free or order DVD if you like to have a "hard" copy.

A later Post Script from ZM: After watching trailer of Zeitgeist II (ZEITGEIST - ADDENDUM) my opinion about movie has changed. It seems that second movie will have more anti-religious tones and more concrete calls to anarchy. So Part I of this movie is not coincidental but has its own purpose and, together with some factual information from parts 2 and 3, it becomes the "payload" authors try to send to masses.

Someone from New Zealand sent us a downloaded DVD of the film. Two or three minutes into viewing it God instructed miguel to cease and desist viewing it - so he did.
Obviously it must be a ready-mix of fact and fiction showing in "black and white" many of the things that we have said for years: The visual impact is always far stronger than the reading impact - with the audio impact being somewhere in between.
We would not recommend it because the fictional components - even in the second and third part - will have an impact on how the Elect will react as the gruesome events unfold.
Although we did not view it - precisely because miguel knows why God blocked him from viewing it - we came make that recommendation with a very high degree of certainty.

I have been learning about the Catholic faith. I am drawn to the universal history of the faith
and the beautiful morality of the faith. However, my mentor says that the Vatican has been taken
over by the impostors already. He is in a traditionalist chapel that believes the Vatican is evil

According to him:
I do not see a lot of love in his chapel. There is backbiting and other things that are not the fruit of the spirit. He says to go into a regular Catholic church today is a bad thing.
He says the real pope will manifest and lead the church, but no real pope has appeared since 1963.
I was drawn to your website due to the sweetness of your spirit and your wisdom.
I am confused and don't know who to trust or where to turn.
Did the take over of the church already happen? Was it in 1963? Was Cardinal Joseph Siri the real pope? Is the Novus Ordo mass evil? Is there still a Catholic Church somewhere, but not in Rome? Was Vatican II a takeover by the evil ones to destroy the real mass? Was Vatican II the enemy taking over the church?

A. Your confusion is quite logical.
First of all, before we embark in a lengthier explanation, we recommend that you review the following documents which will begin to shed some light upon the darkness you feel -and rightfully so - that is oppressing you:
The above material may raise a question in your soul - "How come the Faith is Holy and Pure and the Administration of the Church has been already judged and condemned by God?" (7) You must understand that even satan must serve God. God is above all and Rules Supremely.
Many people will then ask - "Why this or that calamity happened if God Rules Supremely?" The answer is crystal clear - once, of course, God reveals it. (8)
We pray that the dark clouds will begin to scatter and the light that you are seeking - that of Jesus Christ - starts coming in as you review the documents cited above.
Back to Cardinal Joseph Siri (9) - Think of this, considering the transparency of the Vatican in the second half of the 20th Century, as compared to the opacity of the prior centuries, how many times could that have happened before 1963? Which would mean that: If the legitimate Papal succession was broken because of the situation Siri faced - then it was broken centuries ago and all Popes since then, including Pius XII, would be as invalid a John XXIII and Paul VI.
Conclusion: If one is to believe the Siri situation - it really does not matter now since there must not have been a successor of Peter in Rome for centuries.
Now, let us look at it from a different perspective - the perspective that "even satan must serve God".
If memory does not fail miguel, the election of Paul VI, and his Papacy, just did not turn out as expected by those who planned it.
It was said that his election was a forced issue so that, counting on the individual Cardinal Montini may have been up to then, the Church would easily be hijacked by evil. However, somehow, once Montini became Pope "he became a different person".... to the point of declaring Mary, Mother of the Church at a time that evil forces within the Church were escorting "Mary out the door."
He himself announced that the smoke of satan had entered the Church. Thus - even if the Siri story is correct, God stepped in and made Paul VI "His man".
Regarding Mass - What is important is that it is offered essentially as the Vatican Missal instructs - Tridentine or Novus Ordo. With the key part being that the Transubstantiation is done correctly (10). That Benedict XVI is the AntiChrist - Not a problem.... unless he orders the debasing of the Mass by changing it so that the Eucharist would be ineffective. When the time to pray for the Pope comes around during Mass - just replace him in your prayer for all Patriarchs of the Catholic Faith. Benedict XVI may be the AntiChrist but God IS GOD and He will not allow those who seek Him in earnest unprotected.
If the chapel and/or parish you frequent is devoid of love.... then, God is not there. Seek Him where there is Love while keeping in mind that "Love" does not mean that "all goes".... Dearly beloved, let us love one another, for charity is of God. And every one that loveth, is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not, knoweth not God: for God is charity. [ 1 John 4: 7-8]

On May 14 Israel will celebrate 60 years of independence. This fact alone is significant, but there is also another plane to it.
I can't remember exact source of information but in Protestant circles Matthew 24:32-34
has yet another plane. In Bible Israel is often compared with a Fig tree. Biblical "generation" is often regarded as 60 years ( I can't remember the source of information).
So, putting it all into one piece, some Protestants see Matthew 24:32-34 as: People who witnessed creation of state of Israel will still be alive during the beginning of Tribulation (i.e. Sequence).
This whole thing is not serious enough - there are much more bigger signs than this one and actually it can be wrong or misleading, like for example Rapture, but I think it is interesting enough to let you know about it.

A. Thank you or bringing this to our attention. It is important and we will explain why. According to a source (1), the "Biblical generation" may be viewed as follows:
What makes this important is that certain Evangelical Circles believe that God need their help (2) to set up the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
Since Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit man has wanted to "Play God" - What a fool! Therefore - if you have a group of "Evangelicals" (3) who have decided that 60 years is the exact figure for a Biblical Generation, they may indeed try something to trigger the beginning of the Tribulations "before the end of said generation".
Their surprise will be great when the Rapture does not come at the beginning of the Tribulations but instead, at the bitter end when God turns on the "final spin cycle" of the Apocalypse - Step No. 15 (4). What a rude awakening those who remain alive after Step No. 1 will have!

Because it is not his business. The Creation is God's and, as prophecies must be fulfilled, He will use His gofers to "make it happen" for the Glory MUST ALWAYS be of God - never of man. Generally, the only "credit" man can claim is almost destroying God's creation through his abysmal stupidity (= his disobedience to God).
(3) Evangelicals in quotation marks because anyone who pretends to "play God" is influenced by satan. It does not matter if they use the word "Jesus" in every other sentence. We say "word" because to them it is only a word to be used to advance their plans and not the Holiest of Names before every knee should (and will!) bend. If they knew that, they would not pretend to act as if they were God. We must pray for them because many have been misled by their leaders and God demands that we come to their assistance through prayers - not with guns and knifes.

I was just listening to the news and they were talking about Pope Benedict coming to Washington
DC.
They were saying although Pope Benedict has been pope for only 3 years he draws larger crowds than Pope John Paul II. Why? Because "he is so shy and a shy pope is more mysterious".

We also wish to Thank You! for confirming, with your first hand story, that what appears to be a satire truly reflects a sad and sick reality.
Therefore, in the end, you confirmed for our readers that the statement: Ah, yes.... miguel's "Alternative Reality" keeps rearing its ugly head while the already programmed zombie-like masses denies it at a horrendous price continues to hold true and will until the end.

On March 31st we requested through the Public Forum - Part II (1) feedback regarding the preference of e-correspondence alerts over the Did You Know That....? page (2). As the members of The M+G+R Foundation Family well know, we try to follow the clear guidance from God regarding how we conduct our affairs and very seldom "look for a vote". Why this time?
The greatest enemy of anyone who truly wishes to serve God as He Wills, and certainly deserves, is Self.
That is, personal preferences masking themselves as the Will of God (3). In this particular case we could have had undue interference from Self by making a decision on behalf of our readers; a decision which responded to a never manifested request to minimize mailings.
satan was prompt to throw some "sand into the spiritual eyes" by making the Did You Know That....? page the most visited page of our Domain. Was the decision a success? It appeared so yet... there was a nagging feeling within m de P that his decision to curtail the e-correspondence was really not based on the Will of God.
Thus, we asked Him to speak through you... and "Speak He did!"

Several weeks ago, in an e-mail (or perhaps in one of the Web postings on your site), you said that the outcome of the Presidential election would reflect God's perfect Will. It seemed to me that you also said that there actions of the new President would be in accord with God's perfect Will. From this, some questions and further thoughts arose for me.
A. The outcome of the election will be according to the perfect Will of God. We did not say "next President" which leaves the situation open to interpretation by all. Remember - as we pray the suffering may be mitigated, therefore the situation is all fluid.
(III) America has been greatly blessed by God, (5) but this does not make us a Chosen Nation in the way that the ancient Israelites were. God is sovereign over all, and loves all mankind: as you said, the blind African baby as much as the American suburbanite. To prevent this country from doing further harm to the rest of the world with further abuse of our military, economic, and cultural power, it may be that God will allow us to fall. He allowed his Chosen People to fall to Assyrian and Babylonian and Roman occupation; why should we expect greater protection from adversity than they got?

as the repeated chastisements of the original Chosen People of God are precisely ongoing warnings
from God.

This extraordinary request matches the extraordinary circumstances: The visit of Benedict XVI to the US and the seemingly never ending stream of apologies and emotional words expressing great contrition for the sexual abuse within the US Catholic Church.
The Message
This effusive public display of contrition - as you must already know - was a carefully staged, and quite hollow, event. All of those words had been carefully written in Rome long before his arrival in the US. The script, so to speak, for a well planned and choreographed Mea Culpa

What we are seeing here is an outrageous mockery of the innocent Faithful of the US who are not aware of the truth behind the scenes - and another grave offense to God.
We ask you: Who, if not a satan-guided soul, would participate in such a sick charade?
Please get this information out as far as wide as you can. If people do not want to believe that this man is the AntiChrist - fine; at least they should be fully aware of how he is mocking the Faithful.
May God Bless your every effort in assisting those members of the Elect whose eyes and ears are still closed, and who, because of that, will suffer greatly unless they are opened with black and white irrefutable facts.

Last Friday I watched Zeitgeist movie. Well - even with background knowledge of many facts covered in this movie, the Big Picture shown was so real and shocking.
Movie consists of 3 parts: Religion, 911 Attack and Economy.
In first part authors try to prove that all world religions are man made and conclude it stating that Jesus Christ was imaginary figure, not a real person. This part is hardly scientific because even without deep knowledge of other non monotheistic world religions "concentration" around December 25 (1) is very questionable and for example only few hundred years ago it was November 7 (and actually Eastern Church still uses old calendar).
I think without any problems you can find many holes in this theory but for "weak" on Faith this part can be damaging, its a-la Da Vinci Code (2) so I can't recommend it easily to everybody.
In the second part authors try to prove that 911 was planned and executed by government, with a lot of facts and proofs.
In the third part authors try to show that banks and "elite" were behind every war in 20th century - WW I, WW II, Vietnam, etc.
Even if some of the facts cannot be proved or they are wrong I think this movie can add more new information to "Illuminati", "NWO" and "conspiracy" folders.
But again, first part in my opinion is a bit dangerous for unprepared minds.
Another potential problem that I see with this movie is that you can download it for free or order DVD if you like to have a "hard" copy.

A later Post Script from ZM: After watching trailer of Zeitgeist II (ZEITGEIST - ADDENDUM) my opinion about movie has changed. It seems that second movie will have more anti-religious tones and more concrete calls to anarchy. So Part I of this movie is not coincidental but has its own purpose and, together with some factual information from parts 2 and 3, it becomes the "payload" authors try to send to masses.

Someone from New Zealand sent us a downloaded DVD of the film. Two or three minutes into viewing it God instructed miguel to cease and desist viewing it - so he did.
Obviously it must be a ready-mix of fact and fiction showing in "black and white" many of the things that we have said for years: The visual impact is always far stronger than the reading impact - with the audio impact being somewhere in between.
We would not recommend it because the fictional components - even in the second and third part - will have an impact on how the Elect will react as the gruesome events unfold.
Although we did not view it - precisely because miguel knows why God blocked him from viewing it - we came make that recommendation with a very high degree of certainty.

The above material may raise a question in your soul - "How come the Faith is Holy and Pure and the Administration of the Church has been already judged and condemned by God?" (7) You must understand that even satan must serve God. God is above all and Rules Supremely.
Many people will then ask - "Why this or that calamity happened if God Rules Supremely?" The answer is crystal clear - once, of course, God reveals it. (8)

Back to Cardinal Joseph Siri (9) - Think of this, considering the transparency of the Vatican in the second half of the 20th Century, as compared to the opacity of the prior centuries, how many times could that have happened before 1963? Which would mean that: If the legitimate Papal succession was broken because of the situation Siri faced - then it was broken centuries ago and all Popes since then, including Pius XII, would be as invalid a John XXIII and Paul VI.
Conclusion: If one is to believe the Siri situation - it really does not matter now since there must not have been a successor of Peter in Rome for centuries.
Now, let us look at it from a different perspective - the perspective that "even satan must serve God".
If memory does not fail miguel, the election of Paul VI, and his Papacy, just did not turn out as expected by those who planned it.
It was said that his election was a forced issue so that, counting on the individual Cardinal Montini may have been up to then, the Church would easily be hijacked by evil. However, somehow, once Montini became Pope "he became a different person".... to the point of declaring Mary, Mother of the Church at a time that evil forces within the Church were escorting "Mary out the door."
He himself announced that the smoke of satan had entered the Church. Thus - even if the Siri story is correct, God stepped in and made Paul VI "His man".
Regarding Mass - What is important is that it is offered essentially as the Vatican Missal instructs - Tridentine or Novus Ordo. With the key part being that the Transubstantiation is done correctly (10). That Benedict XVI is the AntiChrist - Not a problem.... unless he orders the debasing of the Mass by changing it so that the Eucharist would be ineffective. When the time to pray for the Pope comes around during Mass - just replace him in your prayer for all Patriarchs of the Catholic Faith. Benedict XVI may be the AntiChrist but God IS GOD and He will not allow those who seek Him in earnest unprotected.
If the chapel and/or parish you frequent is devoid of love.... then, God is not there. Seek Him where there is Love while keeping in mind that "Love" does not mean that "all goes".... Dearly beloved, let us love one another, for charity is of God. And every one that loveth, is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not, knoweth not God: for God is charity. [ 1 John 4: 7-8]

On May 14 Israel will celebrate 60 years of independence. This fact alone is significant, but there is also another plane to it.
I can't remember exact source of information but in Protestant circles Matthew 24:32-34

has yet another plane. In Bible Israel is often compared with a Fig tree. Biblical "generation" is often regarded as 60 years ( I can't remember the source of information).
So, putting it all into one piece, some Protestants see Matthew 24:32-34 as: People who witnessed creation of state of Israel will still be alive during the beginning of Tribulation (i.e. Sequence).
This whole thing is not serious enough - there are much more bigger signs than this one and actually it can be wrong or misleading, like for example Rapture, but I think it is interesting enough to let you know about it.

What makes this important is that certain Evangelical Circles believe that God need their help (2) to set up the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
Since Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit man has wanted to "Play God" - What a fool! Therefore - if you have a group of "Evangelicals" (3) who have decided that 60 years is the exact figure for a Biblical Generation, they may indeed try something to trigger the beginning of the Tribulations "before the end of said generation".
Their surprise will be great when the Rapture does not come at the beginning of the Tribulations but instead, at the bitter end when God turns on the "final spin cycle" of the Apocalypse - Step No. 15 (4). What a rude awakening those who remain alive after Step No. 1 will have!

It was for that independence shown above that she was muzzled as much as they could while "milking" her name and followers for "all it was worth".
Now, of course, the Fatima Crusader - about whom we have written recently (1) - do not want to lose out on this either; after all, it is like politicians: They do and say whatever will fill their coffers.

On March 31st we requested through the Public Forum - Part II (1) feedback regarding the preference of e-correspondence alerts over the Did You Know That....? page (2). As the members of The M+G+R Foundation Family well know, we try to follow the clear guidance from God regarding how we conduct our affairs and very seldom "look for a vote". Why this time?
The greatest enemy of anyone who truly wishes to serve God as He Wills, and certainly deserves, is Self.
That is, personal preferences masking themselves as the Will of God (3). In this particular case we could have had undue interference from Self by making a decision on behalf of our readers; a decision which responded to a never manifested request to minimize mailings.
satan was prompt to throw some "sand into the spiritual eyes" by making the Did You Know That....? page the most visited page of our Domain. Was the decision a success? It appeared so yet... there was a nagging feeling within m de P that his decision to curtail the e-correspondence was really not based on the Will of God.
Thus, we asked Him to speak through you... and "Speak He did!"
We will resume the customary level of e-correspondence while at the same time keeping the Did You Know That....? page active so that those who are not in our lists have an opportunity to read certain information which otherwise they would not. [After all - someone must be making that page the most read of the Domain.]
We thank all those who wrote in His Name. Two individuals wrote with a logic aligned with - less e-correspondence in favor of the Did You Know That....? page. Following is an edited example:
My preference to communicate the "Did you know that..." is via your M+G+R web site instead of
e-mail. Why? If we are interested (as moved by God's Holy Spirit) and crave to look for it, we
will go to that "Did you know..." page. Sending via e-mail is like forcing the contents into
people's throats. Anyway, when you have e-messages, it's there to click on it. But for those who
are focused on His Will will look for it and knock, then it shall be opened.
To which He responded:
(a) An e-correspondence sent can be deleted without even opening it, whereas an e-correspondence that was never sent cannot be read; and
(b) At a time when most are under so much pressure from world related matters [due to individual pressing personal situations such as losing one's home, changing or losing one's job, raising children in a very dark world, etc.] , it is very easy to lose one's focus on the only One Who can help us and, logically, remembering to visit a certain page in the internet may have been unconsciously pushed down in the list of priorities.

However, for the Apocalyptic times He also said:

Several weeks ago, in an e-mail (or perhaps in one of the Web postings on your site), you said that the outcome of the Presidential election would reflect God's perfect Will. It seemed to me that you also said that there actions of the new President would be in accord with God's perfect Will. From this, some questions and further thoughts arose for me.
(I) Does this mean that Step One of the sequence (1) has been delayed
until after January 20, 2009 - and perhaps long enough for the actions and policies of the new
President to have a effect? If so, that might mean that the Sequence might not begin until March
or April of 2009, or later.
A. The outcome of the election will be according to the perfect Will of God. We did not say "next President" which leaves the situation open to interpretation by all. Remember - as we pray the suffering may be mitigated, therefore the situation is all fluid.
(II) You have said that God's perfect Will can include disastrous events, such as the 2004
Tsunami (2) ... and Noah's Flood. It is a sobering reminder that God's
perfect Will includes justice and judgment (3) as well as mercy
(4). Also, from the earthly perspective, the application of God's mercy to
us often looks and feels like "severe mercy": more like radical surgery than a bowl of hot chicken
soup or a rum toddy. In short, the promise that the election result will be consistent with God's
perfect Will is NOT a promise of smooth sailing ahead for America and for the world.
A. Exactly!(III) America has been greatly blessed by God, (5) but this does not make us a Chosen Nation in the way that the ancient Israelites were. God is sovereign over all, and loves all mankind: as you said, the blind African baby as much as the American suburbanite. To prevent this country from doing further harm to the rest of the world with further abuse of our military, economic, and cultural power, it may be that God will allow us to fall. He allowed his Chosen People to fall to Assyrian and Babylonian and Roman occupation; why should we expect greater protection from adversity than they got?
(IV) Alas for my country! As Thomas Jefferson said in 1781, "Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just."
-- With the unprovoked invasion of Iraq, we already committed a war crime - and ALL THREE of the
remaining major-party candidates have explicitly "left on the table" the idea of war against Iran.
That war, if it comes, would be as unjust as the Iraq war.
-- There is no "peace movement" to speak of in America now. On the Democratic side, the two antiwar candidates (Gravel and Kucinich) together got no more than 2% of the vote. On the Republican side, the winner is McCain - a war hawk who is willing to see our troops stay in Iraq for 100 years, and who sang "bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" during a campaign appearance. The antiwar Republican, Ron Paul, got less than 15% of the vote. If McCain wins - perhaps because the two Democratic contenders destroy each other during the rest of the nomination duel - Americans will have voted for a continuation of the policies of George W. Bush. All of this is so different from 1968 (when antiwar challenger Eugene McCarthy forced LBJ to withdraw from the race), and from 1972 (when antiwar candidate McGovern got the Democratic nomination ... before going down to defeat by Nixon.) My hunch is that "the people" are disgusted with the Iraq war because we are losing, not because it was wrong.
-- Abortion continues ... at least a million innocent deaths a year.
-- The economic system is expertly rigged to transfer income and wealth from the poor and the middle class to the rich. To take the current examples: the central bank is bailing out irresponsible financial institutions in a generous way that was not applied to Katrina victims, and is not being applied to the foreclosure victims in the current mortgage crisis.
-- The media and the educational system continue their decay.
-- So does the political system. The sordid morals of our rulers (i.e., the recent and present governors of New York) correspond with the character of the laws they enact.
-- And so forth ...
