The Fatima Prayer

To accept all difficulties that we encounter in our daily lives

The brief but very powerful Prayer:

To be recited along the day in every occasion when we face some kind of suffering

and regularly at the beginning and/or at the closing of the day

O my Jesus, I offer this (day / difficulty / ...

work / jorney / task / annoyance / effort / ...

suffering / pain / illness / ...)

for Love of Thee,

for the conversion of sinners,

and in reparation for the sins

committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary

A Pearl of Divine Wisdom

As part of the communications associated with Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima, the faithful were informed not to seek additional mortification to offer to God, but to offer/accept any and all difficulties that we encounter in our daily lives for:

Love of Jesus, in reparation for the offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary and for the conversion of poor sinners.

Why was this simple instruction which may appear as “just another exercise of piety”, as many would say, important enough for the Mother of God to personally deliver it to mankind?

God did not want that mankind's ever increasing suffering be wasted since, if properly offered, it would become an auto corrective mechanism for mankind's ills.

How Does It Work?

1. If the suffering is needed by God for the redemption of our brothers and sisters, He will give us the strength to endure it as we, though His Grace, help the disoriented Elect find their way to Heaven.

2. If the suffering is just out of the meanness of satan, he will soon stop the harassment. He is not about to contribute to the redemption of mankind as his victim turns the suffering into an act of Love for God and humanity.

Remember...

God sends the heaviest crosses to those He calls His own,

And the bitterest drops of the chalice are reserved for His friends alone.

But the blood red drops are precious, and the crosses are all gain,

For Joy is bought with Sacrifice, and the price of love is Pain.

(a) You can make the offering at the beginning of the day, at the middle of the day and at the end of your day [in this way: “O my Jesus, I offer my efforts, difficulties and suffering in this day for Love of Thee, for the conversion of sinners and in reparation for the sins/offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.”]. You have no idea what God can achieve with your offering. Knowing that your heart is in the right place and that you are sincere, He will use every drop of suffering that you may be enduring in marvelous ways.

(b) We have often said that we should offer prayers, fasting and reasonable sacrifices without getting into the sado-masochistic techniques of self flagellation, cilice and similar sado-masochistic techniques. [Instead, ...] to offer/accept any and all difficulties that we encounter in our daily lives for: Love of Jesus, in reparation for the offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary and for the conversion of poor sinners.

Very occasionally, since my adolescence, I had a recurring dream, very brief but very disturbing, almost terrifying, consisting of a mixture of noises and threatening shadows, sometimes even with voices, and all wrapped in a sensation as if an electric shock was being released in my head, while I was aware that I was still in bed. It was much later when I identified this dream as demonic attacks. I wasn't too scared, because I knew that God was protecting me and that, whatever those shadows/demons were, couldn't touch me, but it was still a very upsetting and unpleasant experience.

On one occasion, in the middle of that dream, I made a distress call to my guardian angel to stop the attack, but it did not stop. Next, I made the same request to St. Michael the Archangel, but the attack did not cease either. Then I remembered the Fatima prayer, which I was already learning to apply on a daily basis, and I recited it with my heart on it: Lord, I offer You the annoyance that this attack is causing me for the love of Jesus, for the conversion of sinners and for the reparation of sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The attack ceased immediately.

This confirmed in my soul the knowledge that satan cannot bear to have his attacks turned into an act of glorification of God directed at Jesus and Mary. Since then, I have an even greater confidence that this Fatima prayer has immense power and great value for Heaven.

Now, I even offer to God daily: all the sorrows and negative consequences upon me that are a result of my mistakes, sins and omissions, present, past and future. This is an effective spiritual “vaccine” to curb the influence of the devil, who will be less interested in tempting me to commit mistakes and sins.
