Our Response:
We did not know William Styron, neither his Book, but he is right in that quote. The answer can be posed as this question: “Where was man?”.
God has chosen our collaboration —that of all his children— to prevent the disgraces that befall humanity. This is the key.
It is a good occasion to recall our document regarding Benedict [or Maledict? (2)] XVI’s complaint to Heaven when at Auschwitz he cried out “Where was God?”:

On May 28th, 2006, Joseph Ratzinger, also known as Benedict XVI, stated the following at the former Nazi death camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau:
Had these questions been posed by anyone else besides the Supreme Leader of the Roman Catholic Church Hierarchical Administration – they would have been reasonable because of the failed Evangelization. However, such quotations from Psalm 44 are neither acceptable nor reasonable coming from the one who claims to be the Pope of the Roman Catholics, who calls himself the Successor of Peter, and who presumes to be “Christ on Earth”.

In particular, the Controlling Hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church had in their hands the remedy to prevent World War II. Through the Fatima Apparitions, they were provided with the necessary instructions, very concrete and very simple, but they chose not to heed them. Therefore, their liability was much greater than the average of those involved. A sample:

Through the Fatima events Heaven requested that the Immaculate Heart of Mary be honored as a feast in the Universal Church. One hundred and fifty million maimed corpses later, poor John Paul II was able to fulfill part of the request in pectore (secretly/unpublicized) on January 1, 1996. The day of observance of the Immaculate Heart of Mary became a Memorial of Obligation and placed in the Calendar of the Universal Church [Prot. 2376/95/L]. It was made public over a year after H.H. John Paul II signed it.

If one believes that supernatural remedies given by God are more powerful than any purely human action (which is a reality), then those charged with administering those remedies bear the greatest responsibility. If, on the other hand, such administrators did not or do not believe in the power of God, then they were/are responsible for holding up, in the face of others, something they believe to be a lie. Such an argument could be pursued even before a civil court, as miguel de Portugal pointed out:

Of course, the issue that we bring to your attention for action may be considered an internal affair of the Roman Catholic Church and not for civil authorities. However, the Vatican has over the centuries and up to today, breached the separation of State and Church. This is something which Jesus also warned against doing: Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s; and to God, the things that are God’s. [Mt 22:21].
Therefore, internal Church matters have become civil matters and must be treated as such until the Church Administration stops interfering in politics and devote itself to the only function Jesus entrusted them with: Evangelize, not Politicize.

...Sweden’s Lutheran church consecrated its first openly gay bishop, just two weeks after it gave clergy the right to wed same-sex couples? (1)
Eva Brunne became bishop of Stockholm’s diocese in a ceremony Sunday.
She lives in a “registered partnership” with another woman, a civil union between gays used in Sweden before same-sex marriages were legalized this year. The couple also has a child.
“It is very positive that our church is setting an example here and is choosing me as bishop based on my qualifications, when they also know that they can meet resistance elsewhere”, the 55-year-old Brunne told The Associated Press by phone.
She lives in a “registered partnership” with another woman, a civil union between gays used in Sweden before same-sex marriages were legalized this year. The couple also has a child.

Our position about homosexuality (2) is as clear as it is compassionate; our position regarding the great importance of women (3) leaves no room for doubt about it; our position about who God allows in the priesthood (4) should leave no doubt either; and our respect and support for civil unions among members of the same gender should be, by now, legendary. However, what we read in the above news report is little short of an abomination.
We must pray without ceasing for “the Titanic” is just about to hit the bottom of the sea.

Do you ever wonder... how do you know when what you want for yourself is not the right thing, or the result that you want is not God’s Will.
Quite simple: It really does not matter... IF whatever you ask for and seek you, as an act of your free will, subject it to the Will of God.
If you do so, He will not allow it, under any circumstances.

Reaction to the news about headless embryos

very disturbing. I have no words.

The first thought that came to my mind was also "I have no words".
If we, miserable as we are, feel so disturbed and saddened by this, imagine how God must feel, for He is infinitely more sensitive and loving than any human being.

Human Embryos WITHOUT HEADS to be Grown in Mechanical Wombs

Apparently, a team of Israeli entrepreneurs is planning to grow human embryos in artificial wombs.
After they grow, organs could be harvested from such infants. To avoid ethical dilemmas, human
embryos will be grown without heads. No kidding. The article does not explain how growing human
embryos without heads would “avoid ethical dilemmas”, leaving the reader needing to figure it
out on their own. .....
Anyway, the plan, to be explained in simple language, would be something like this: if I get older, and need a replacement organ that is not affected by aging, I could pay this startup to grow an artificial infant, without a head, but otherwise, a copy of me when I was an infant. Then they could harvest organs from that headless infant to transplant into my aging body, avoiding immune rejection seen with regular transplants.
Note that the transplants are not EXACTLY a copy of my organs, since they carry modified genetic code that was altered to prevent the formation of a head in the womb. That small distinction is, apparently, lost on the promoters of this idea.
Since infant organs are too small for an adult, the article mentions “immune cells”, which are just cells. But, I [the reporter] guess, such a headless infant could continue to grow on an accelerated timescale, to provide full size replacement organs for old people.
This is NOT a conspiracy theory, since all the information is in the article. If it sounds crazy, it is not because I [the reporter] invented it — I am just retelling the story.

There must be very little time left before God presses the Reset button. If there were enough time, satan would convince all mankind that the human body is nothing more than a biochemical mass with no more dignity than a fly, a flea or a plate of spaghetti. Nothing that can harbor a soul, since the soul cannot be “scientifically” observed.
This is the virtue of scientific "ethics", that everything is relativized. “If it can be done, it must be good to do it. If not now, later.” Once you take God out of the equation, it is no longer that "God must have designed this for some good reason", then you can do ANYTHING without moral regret.
Imagine what kind of future it would be if, one day, along the same path mankind is now on, the word "embryo" were redefined to include babies up to, say, 3 years old. Imagine the “experts” saying that, “since they have no memory recall that survives to adulthood, they are not complete human beings”... Do you think we are exaggerating? What exactly is preventing mankind from moving in that direction? Apparently, nothing at all. Just time.
“If not now, later” means that it is only a matter of time before morality, without God, can be adjusted to justify ANY human action. On the step that humanity is now descending: If there were enough time, the human genetic heritage would be corrupted to irreversible levels, as is already happening with some plants and crops. And it may already be happening with humans through bio-devices designed to manipulate human RNA. But that would be a minor problem compared to the real problem which is the sickness of the soul.
The major problem is when arrogance is making humanity believe that we can manipulate at will the primordial building materials of the human being and do better than God. And, worse, when biology is about to be redefined so that human cells, organs and embryos (with or without a head, either in an artificial or natural womb) are contemplated just like electrons, protons, atoms or laser beams: just physical objects for research and profit, with no connection to the Creator Who put everything in its place, the Only One Who knows every detail and reason for the fabric of life.
This means that the human soul is reaching levels of corruption that, if God allowed it any longer, would be irreversible. Not even the best fish can survive in such a polluted pond where there is no more oxygen. The same goes for souls, which could no longer dwell on Earth... if God does not intervene.
“If you can do it, it must be good to do it.” Yes, this is satan whispering, “If you can be like gods, it is good for you to be like gods.” Is not DNA manipulation, at the levels they want to reach (or are reaching) now, and for the purposes they are open to achieve at any time, the equivalent of the symbolic Tree of Life in the Book of Genesis?
Come Lord, and renew the face of the Earth! Again!

All she needed for her project was a jar of yoghurt, some jellyfish DNA —purchased online for less than $100 (£65) from a biological supply company— and a few pieces of lab equipment (including a DNA analyser), which she constructed herself for less than $25. Eventually, say experts, such equipment could be sold in kits: a kind of My Little Genetically-Altered Lifeform playset for adults.

On a very personal basis... As we witness every day what else “mankind is up to”, the last vestiges of sadness we felt disappear as we view what God will allow to be unleashed upon this planet to cleanse it once and for all. That massive destruction —which would make Noah cringe— is the only hope that we have to finally fulfill the initial plan of God for which He Created the Universe. It is a tragedy that He will be forced to allow such devastating fury upon us, but we have given Him no other choice.
Although it is the last day of the year (2) we will not echo the hollow cliché “Happy New Year!” to our readers because “Happy” it will not be we can assure you of that; instead we will wish that the Mercy of God is bestowed upon each and everyone one of you in the measure that each one of us have been merciful towards others. Amen!
